The morning papers

Sad but true. You just know that at least one "Law & Order" associate producer is cutting and pasting today's Globe and Herald stories about the death of MIT-educated artist Kevin McCormick in lurid circumstances in Fort Point. Hazmats suits and a "wild weekend sex romp gone wrong" feature prominently, as do allegations that the loft was a major manufacturing site for crystal meth, Ecstasy and other drugs. (And the media is wearing out the phrase "near the Children's Museum," which seems a bit of a stretch.)  Apparently McCormick died of a heart attack during sex while wearing what the Globe called simply "fetish gear" and the Herald described as "a mask and wetsuit-style body suit." You just know TV is gonna rip this one from the headlines. Not sure if they'll include the "hamsters" cited in the Herald, however.

There's happier arts stories around this morning, fortunately. The Globe has a nice piece on a retrospective of painter Joan Snyder at the Danforth, and another one on the Vox Consort classical music ensemble's outreach to the streets. The Globe also scoops that the MFA will today award the Maud Morgan Prize to painter Shelley Reed. And in the Herald there's word that the "Mike" format on WMKK-FM (93.7) is getting a qualified thumbs-up from Boston listeners.

Remember the Lemmiwinks episode of "South Park"? Yikes!
