Well, no, he's not performing, although if he's in town, you might well see him there, singing along. The great cellist is particularly fond, apparently, of the moment when the Revels audience joins in singing the round "Dona Nobis Pacem" (Give Us Peace). He has a new holiday album, "Yo-Yo Ma and Friends: Songs of Joy & Peace" (SonyBMG), and it includes four different versions of "Dona Nobis Pacem" with various guests.
The relevant liner notes from Ma's CD: "One of my favorite holiday memories, which I wanted to recreate at the recording sessions, is the joyful feeling evoked by singing together. Every year my extended family and I attend The Christmas Revels, a community celebration of the winter solstice that includes traditional music, dance, drama and rituals drawn from the world´s cultures. During the performance, the audience joins in singing the three-part canon Dona Nobis Pacem...For a short time, parents, grandparents, children, actors, dancers and musicians become one, recreating a ritual that is contemplative and transcendent."
Ma, who lives in Cambridge, has also been talking up that Revels moment in interviews about the album, like this one. And so the Revels has uploaded a 2006 performance of the round for iTunes purchase here. Word is it will be featured later this month on a Celebrity Playlist chosen by Ma. With the dismal economy hurting ticket sales for the Revels (and just about every other cultural event out there), this kind of publicity can't hurt.
The 38th annual Christmas Revels run Dec. 12-14, 18-22 and 27-30 at Sanders Theater in Cambridge. This year's show, "Church Meets tavern," is loosely based on the setting of Hardy's "Under the Greenwood Tree." England's Mellstock Band, leads this year's 80-member ensemble. Tickets, $25-$52 for adults, can be had at revels.org, at 617-496-2222, at the Harvard box office or by mail with a form downloaded from revels.org.

I swear when I first looked at this clutch there was a silver metallic version available as well as the purple metallic. But now the only option left is the purple metallic, which of course, me being me, I love. So I have a slight obsession. But this clutch, this sexy option from Prada, has my heart palpitating. It is overall simple. There are no bells or whistles. Nothing amazing. But the simplicity of the design is what grabs me, what makes me give the bag a second glance and think to myself, “this is so me”. The Prada Vitellino Mordore’A Clutch shows off richly gathered calfskin with a signature metal Prada logo in the center. Dimensions are just right, The purple metallic will look stunning with fall and winter greys. It is my new purple clutch obsession for the day. Now I promise to lay off the purple (but it may be hard!). Buy through www.europehandbag.com

I am constantly drawn to cream colored leathers. Browns and whites can be harsh at times, so adding a bit of cream to tone it down is the perfect option. And whites do not have to stop being worn after Labor Day, in fact winter whites are perfectly luxe for the season. But I typically opt for a white that is creamier. And the soya cream leather on the Miu Miu Wooden Handle Tote offers a feeling of winter resort. The wooden handle does give the bag a very resort feel, but would look perfect in a more tropical area (like South Florida). The wooden handle may not fit on your shoulder well, and even if it did it may grind into your shoulder a bit. Of course Miu Miu added in an optional detachable shoulder strap. I adore this bag, adore the color of the leather, and adore the wooden accent.
I would like to share with you!
