Regular readers see a lot of Berklee news here, most of which comes from a guy named Nick Balkin at the school. Turns out the mild-mannered publicist by day is a glam rock guitarist by night. He's in a Boston band called Logan 5 and the Runners, which has just finished its debut album, "Featurette." They'll celebrate the release on Saturday night at Great Scott, 1222 Comm. Ave., Allston (21+, $8). Also on the bill are The Daily Pravda and The Luxury.
The band chose its name because singer Dave Berndt looks like British actor Michael York, who starred in the sci-fi cult fave "Logan's Run." The band's music is '70s Brit glam filtered through the angular sound of '90s-'00s bands like Pulp and Blur. Berndt sounds both snarky and desperate, and the music throbs with analog where's-my-jetpack retro-futurist attitude. If Noel Gallagher starred in a remake of "The Jetsons"...
