John Pizzarelli and Maya Beiser are the guests tonight and tomorrow with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops. Pizzarelli's a good jazz guitarist and singer, even if I would pay anything to get his Foxwoods jingle out of my brain. Maya Beiser will perform the world premiere of a suite by James Newton Howard, based on his film score of M. Night Shyamalan’s movie "The Village," and "Exodus" (the movie soundtrack, not the Bob Marley song). I'm promised "eerie and interesting." But face it, the reason I am posting this is that she's going to play an electric cello solo of Led Zepplin's "Kashmir." For that I might even sit through "The Wonder Of It All" a couple of times. The Pops people are really reaching out to us bloggy types these days, even if Lockhart has been a less-than-involved Twitterer. Today they even sent along a sound clip from rehearsal - the whole ensemble on "You've Got To be Carefully Taught." Enjoy:
