The 150-voice Boston Gay Men's Chorus will give its annual Christmas concerts, "Our Home for the Holidays," on Dec. 13, 18, 19 and 20 at Jordan Hall. Under the direction of Reuben Reynolds, the chorus will tackle a bunch of carols and other traditional Christmas music arranged by Conrad Susa. But the heart of the programs will be two new pieces. An original song by Cambridge composer and Unitarian minister Fred Small, "Not in Our Town," tells the story of how the citizens of Billings, Montana stood against anti-Semitism and intolerance. And a world premiere new work from composer Mark Koval, "The Story of You," is an anthem of tolerance and diversity that will be used by the BGMC in its award-winning High School Outreach Program. The song was commissioned by the BGMC under the auspices of the American Composers Forum’s Community Partners Program.
Not that it's all serious. The closing production number finale features a rebellion of overworked elves, and a cranky Mrs. Claus (special guest Kerry Dowling) downs a pitcher of pina coladas and commandeers the sleigh for a raucous road trip to Rio. Everybody samba! Tickets for "Our Home for the Holidays" are $45, $35, $25, and $15 and are now on sale at 617-542-SING and www.bgmc.org, as well as the Jordan Hall box office.
