Local winners in the Grammy Awards last night included James Levine and the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s complete recording to Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé, which won the Grammy for Best Orchestral Performance. Rounder Records also scored with Béla Fleck's win for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for "Throw Down Your Heart" from the Rounder album, "Throw Down Your Heart: Tales From The Acoustic Planet, Vol. 3 - Africa Sessions." I expect we'll hear more later, including a list of Berklee-grad winners.
The BSO recording also featured featuring the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, John Oliver, conductor, and was issued on the orchestra's own BSO Classics label. It was produced by Elizabeth Ostrow, with recording engineers from Soundmirror in Boston. And in fact the BSO and Levine are scheduled to perform the work at Carnegie Hall tonight.
