Western Front owner Marvin Gilmore and New England Conservatory violinist Helen Sherrah-Davies have organized an eclectic benefit for Haitian relief next Sunday at the Cambridge club. The 7 p.m. show draws from both the NEC and Berklee talent pools, including: Sherrah-Davies' group J-Way “the fast and curvy string quartet…”; Japanese singer-songwriter Aika Hirahara with Nicholas Farmakalidis; the Merrick Family's Dakota Sioux songs and drumming; and the4 Zappa-friendly jazz group Leah Gough-Cooper’s “Human Equivalent." Minimum donation at the door is $15, and the money goes to Medicins Sans Frontieres, one of the groups providing much needed relief services in the aftermath of the earthquake disaster.
