Now here's a
hell of a good job for someone. Rockport Music is
looking for a venue manager for the brand new
Shalin Liu Performance Center, a 325-seat multipurpose hall that you can read about in
a Globe story here. The pink square in the picture accompanying Jeremy Eichler's story is construction material outlining the two-story window behind the stage looking out on the ocean. (Artist's conception from inside at left.) Set to open June 10 with the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, the venue was designed by some of the same people who built Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood, and is supposed to be a little acoustic marvel. But it can also be used for lots of non-musical performances and other events. The venue manager will be responsible for day-to-day operations and upkeep, concessions, running the largely volunteer staff for events and liaison with renters and outside presenters. If you've got 3-5 years venue management experience and don't mind working nights and weekends, this looks like a rare opportunity indeed. The salary is listed as "negotiable," although it may benefit you to bear in mind that Rockport Music is a nonprofit organization. (
Full disclosure: I interviewed for a PR gig at Rockport Music some months back. No go.)
