The American Repertory Theatre's Shakespeare Exploded! festival already has the two most talked-about events of the fall in Boston theater, with its "Donkey Show" (a disco version of "Midsummer Night's Dream") and "Sleep No More" (a creepy, David Lynch-ian exploration of "Macbeth"). The latest SE! event is a little lower key but still interesting: tonight at 7:30 at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts in Cambridge, Kate Burton (right) and Jennifer Van Dyck will offer a reading of "The Lady Hamlet" by Sarah Schulman, directed by the Huntington's Peter DuBois. And it's free! The play tracks two artists, both born to play Hamlet - and both women - in 1920s New York, Margo Stayden Burns and Helene de Montpelier battle it out; Shulman will appear for a post plays talk. The Carpenter Center is here. More on Shakespeare Exploded! is here.
