Opera Boston General Director Carole Charnow will leave at the end of July to take over as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Boston Children’s Museum. As The Exhibitionist notes, since taking over in 1996, she has presided over a tenfold budget increase and added 1,400 subscribers. The 2009-10 season was a relative critical success and the company's best ever financially; "Madame White Snake" is on its way to China next fall. The Opera Boston Board will soon begin the search for a new General Director and, in the interim, Board President Gregory Bulger and Music Director Gil Rose promise to work hard for a seamless transition.
